The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) and the Trade Law Centre (tralac) had a meeting focused on Kenya’s participation in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and its implementation strategy.
Discussions highlighted Kenya’s progress under the AfCFTA-Guided Trade Initiative (GTI), including successful exports to Ghana and South Africa, as well as the initiatives to support Kenya MSMEs to access Africa market.
The meeting also addressed Kenya’s national AfCFTA implementation strategy (2022-2027), which aims to enhance market access, promote regional value chains, and support SMEs, youth, and women in trade.
Additionally, the meeting reviewed the EAC provisional tariff concessions and the phased rollout of the tariff schedule approved in 2023, emphasizing its role in increasing intra-African trade and boosting economic growth.
