A high-level delegation from West Africa, led by Mrs. Tokunbo Chiedu, CEO of Compass Global, and Mrs. Toki Mabogunje, Vice Chair of the ICC World Chamber Federation, visited the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) . The mission aims to strengthen trade and investment ties between West and East Africa, unlocking opportunities presented by the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
Speaking during the visit, Mrs. Chiedu emphasized the transformative potential of the AfCFTA, stating, “This initiative aligns with the goals of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) and has the potential to transform regional economies.”
KNCCI CEO Ahmed Farah welcomed the delegation, reaffirming the Chamber’s commitment to empowering women entrepreneurs in Kenya through strategic interventions and access to critical resources. He underscored the pivotal role of women entrepreneurs in driving community development, highlighting the importance of partnerships to enhance intra-African trade.
The delegation’s tour, encompassing Kenya and Tanzania, seeks to establish robust business linkages between the two regions. This initiative aims to optimize regional value chains and boost production capacities while creating platforms for networking and collaboration.
“By fostering partnerships between West and East African businesses, we can unlock the full potential of AfCFTA, creating opportunities for economic growth, innovation, and shared prosperity across the continent,” said Farah.
The delegation included prominent leaders such as Comfort Adjahoe-Jennings, President of the Africa Women Entrepreneurship Programme (AWEP) West Africa, and Alexander Prempeh, President of the Organization of Women in Trade (OWIT) Ghana. Members of the two associations were also part of the mission, reflecting the strong private-sector drive behind this initiative.
This collaboration represents a significant step toward realizing the vision of a united and economically integrated Africa, demonstrating the power of partnership and innovation in fostering regional development.
