Its a new dawn for Kenya and South Africa business communities as the two Heads of State commit to progressively eliminate tariff and non-tariff trade barriers between the two countries. The move is intended to accelerate the private sector in both countries and drive regional economic transformation through trade.

This follows the recommendations made by Private Sector representatives for Kenya and South Africa, KNCCI President Mr. Richard Ngatia and Black Business Council CEO Mr. Kganki Matabane respectively. The two business leaders asserted the need for friendly regulatory frameworks, harmonized standards, reduction of tariffs and duties, infrastructure development, automation of clearance processes and free movement of people among other measures to create an enabling environment for businesses to trade with each other.

A signing of a partnership agreement between the two national carriers: Kenya Airways and South African Airways, signified the beginning of airline cooperation to realize ease of movement in the spirit of the African Free Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
