Nanyuki on Tuesday 24th November,2020 marked 100 years since it was gazetted as a town.Laikipia Governor Ndiritu Muriithi said over the next three weeks several activities will be held as part of the celebrations expected to end on Jamhuri Day. Some of the activities include cleaning of Nanyuki River, trimming of bushes in estates under Kazi Mtaani programme, medical camps, rabies vaccination and awareness among others, the governor said.

The Chamber President Mr.Richard Ngatia was the Chief Guest during the celebrations . In his remarks the Chamber President pledged KNCCIs continued support for SMEs through advocacy, development programs and partnerships with the private sector, National and County Governments. He affirmed his commitment to enhance collaboration with the Council of Governors and extract the benefits to businesses across the Country. The Chamber President acknowledged the impact the gauge railway Which will increase to investment and manufacturing in the region.

 

H.E. Ndiritu Muriithi reiterated Laikipia County continued support to the business community highlighting the 5% of 12% interest rate on working capital the County is undertaking for business based on a partnership with the commercial banks in the region.

H.E reaffirmed his support to local Innovative manufactures for example BJ-50 the three-wheeler tuktuk that they are seeking to mass produce, in conclusion he affirmed the continued robust engagement with the KNCCI to support business growth, survival & scaling in the country.

 

During the historic occasion, there was an award ceremony to SMEs across categories such as best Women In Business, Youth In Business, Innovative and the celebrations culminated in a Cake cutting ceremony led by the Chamber President Mr.Richard Ngatia and H.E Ndiritu Muriithi, Governor Laikipia County
