KNCCI President Dr. Erick Rutto welcomed Mr. David Bikhado Ofungi, the WCF representative from Uganda, for a pivotal discussion on the upcoming WCF Africa Summit and the immense potential of regional collaboration. Their conversation underscored a shared commitment to fostering business growth, enhancing financial access, and amplifying Africa’s voice on the global stage.
One of the key moments of the meeting was Dr. Rutto’s formal invitation to Uganda’s business community to actively participate in the summit. He encouraged Mr. Bikhado to lead a strong Ugandan business delegation, emphasizing the importance of cross-border engagement in unlocking new opportunities for trade and investment.
In a bid to tackle one of Africa’s most pressing challenges, the leaders also proposed a dedicated session on financial inclusion at the summit. Recognizing that access to finance remains a critical factor for business success, this session aims to explore practical solutions that empower entrepreneurs, SMEs, and larger enterprises to thrive in a competitive market.
Beyond networking and knowledge-sharing, the two leaders discussed a collaborative effort to draft a position paper, capturing key priorities and recommendations from African chambers of commerce. This document will be presented to the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), ensuring that Africa’s business agenda is well represented on the global stage.
As the countdown to the WCF Africa Summit (April 9–11, 2025, in Nairobi) continues, this meeting reaffirmed the region’s commitment to building stronger, more integrated economic partnerships. With discussions like these, the summit promises to be a catalyst for transformative change, fostering a future where African businesses can compete and thrive globally.
