As part of the sidelines of the Kenya-Zambia Trade Expo, a site visit to Zambeef’s production facilities provided a firsthand look at one of Africa’s largest integrated agribusinesses. Zambeef operates at a remarkable scale, producing:

  • 67,012 cattle annually, ensuring a consistent supply of high-quality beef.
  • 25 million chickens and 25 million liters of milk per year, showcasing their strong poultry and dairy operations.
  • 7,800 hectares of irrigated land for key crops such as maize, soya, and wheat, supporting both their production chain and regional food security.
  • 7,900 hectares of rain-fed land, utilized efficiently to complement irrigation efforts.
  • 180,000 shoes produced annually, highlighting Zambeef’s value addition in leather processing.

This visit underscored Zambeef’s integration of agriculture and value addition to meet market demands, presenting opportunities for trade, knowledge exchange, and partnerships between Kenya and Zambia.
