Led by the Chamber President, Dr Erick Rutto, KNCCI participated in a meeting with the Cabinet Secretary for Cooperatives and MSMEs Hon. Wycliffe Oparanya, where a significant milestone was achieved in advancing the partnership between the government and the private sector to support MSME development. Recognizing the essential role of micro, small, and medium enterprises in Kenya’s economy, both parties agreed to establish a platform named the “Public-Private MSME Dialogue.”
This forum will serve as a collaborative space for public and private stakeholders to engage in coordinated action and meaningful dialogue.
To provide strategic leadership, the Cabinet Secretary for MSMEs has been appointed as Chair, while the Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) and Safaricom have been nominated as Vice Chairs. This structure underscores the shared commitment from both government and key private sector leaders to address the challenges facing MSMEs.
The next meeting will be held at KNCCI Headquarters in Nairobi to come up with objectives and action plan to drive the MSME Agenda.
