The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) and the Kenya National Highway Authority (KENHA) have established a strategic partnership to collaborate on the development of Kenya’s road infrastructure. This initiative seeks to leverage private sector expertise and investment to complement public sector efforts.

During a meeting, KNCCI President Dr. Erick Rutto and KENHA Director of Public-Private Partnerships, Eng. Charles Obuon, explored potential areas of collaboration. These include joint training programs to enhance stakeholder capacity, public participation workshops to engage communities, and opportunities for KNCCI members to contribute at various stages of road projects—from design and construction to post-construction maintenance.

Attracting investment was a central focus of the discussions, with an emphasis on utilizing KNCCI’s global partnerships and networks to support KENHA’s initiatives.

KENHA highlighted the urgent need for alternative financing sources to support its ambitious road infrastructure expansion plans. KNCCI reaffirmed its commitment to attracting investors and facilitating knowledge exchange between the public and private sectors to help address this challenge.

In attendance were KNCCI National Directors Ken Onditi, MBS, and John Shimaka; Chair of the Presidential Delivery Unit K.K. Mutai; Vice Chair of Economic Diplomacy Shadrack Kiprono; and members of the KNCCI Secretariat, along with Eng. Kefa Sefa, Deputy Director of PPP at KENHA.
