The EU-Kenya Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) Sensitization Workshop took place today at Strathmore University’s AfCFTA Policy & Development Hub. Coordinated by the Ministry of Investments, Trade and Industry, in collaboration with the EU Embassy and Strathmore University, the workshop focused on the benefits of the Kenya-EU EPA, which came into force on July 1, 2024.

EU Ambassador H.E. Henriette Geiger highlighted a 27% growth in investments for countries with EPAs, emphasizing the opportunities for FDIs in Kenya. Chief Negotiator and DG Trade Director, Ms. Dora Correia, stressed the importance of the EPA in boosting the volume and value of Kenyan exports.

CS Ministry of Industry, Trade and Investments, Hon. Salim Mvurya, urged the private sector to collaborate with the government on capacity-building programs and called for innovation in value addition and diversification of goods exported to the EU. He also advocated for enhancing the export and trade of services as well as investment in the green economy.
