Dr. Erick Rutto, President of KNCCI, met with H.C. Ekitela Moru, Kenya High Commissioner to Malaysia, to discuss increasing trade volumes between Kenya and Malaysia. The primary focus was on enhancing the export of key Kenyan products, such as coffee, flowers, and avocados, to the Malaysian market. Additionally, strategies were deliberated to introduce and establish a market for Kenyan meat in Malaysia.
This discussion comes against the backdrop of AirAsia’s upcoming direct flights from Nairobi to Kuala Lumpur starting November 2024, which is anticipated to facilitate easier and faster trade between the two nations. Both parties agreed to collaborate on promoting Kenyan products in Malaysia and proposed action plans for the market entry of Kenyan meat. They recognized the direct flights as a significant opportunity to boost trade and tourism.
